We Americans

I live in San Diego, by the bay.
It is the best place to live in CA.
We Americans love our music.
There’s rap, country and some acoustic.
We Americans love our fast food.
You know those foods that put you in a lazy mood.
We Americans love having pride.
We honor who have fought and died.
We seem to always be at war
and every day we consumer more and more.
We Americans love free speech.
Believing in activism is what we preach.
We Americans love our flag.
Even though some spirits lag
We Americans love to believe
because it helps us achieve.
We Americans love to rise above
and to go around and parade our love.
I like living here and feeling free.
Know that I can be anything I want to be.
Americans can be themselves here.
Not have to worry about living in fear.

One Thing

What is one thing people don’t know most about me?
Maybe sewing, knitting or making a cup of tea?
Not any of the above, now to you this might sound strange.
But on my free time I like to go to the shooting range.
I enjoy going and shooting a machine gun.
Yeah I’m a girl and I think it’s really fun.
I have been going since I was eleven.
I’ve shot handguns, an MP5 and an AK 47.
I don’t go by myself I go with my dad.
I also help him take apart guns if I might add.
Whenever we go it’s usually his friends and their sons.
I shoot with them and don’t need any reruns.
I’m able to prove that a girl can do anything a boy can do.
They can disagree but what’s new?
Not all are stuck up and rude.
Either way it doesn’t change my mood.
Every shoot and every aim.
Makes me believe that this is my game.
I can do things just as good or better as they can.
Not letting them intimidate me for their gender as a man.
Whatever makes you happy you should do
What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

High School Years

Most memorable year of your high school years.
I will be a senior next semester.
I remember walking in as a freshman not knowing anyone.
Coming to a new school, teachers, and people didn’t sound so fun.
It went by so fast.
From being strangers to becoming best friends.
From all those pointless fights and making amends.
It doesn’t feel like I’m applying to college next year.
Pick my classes and choose a career.
New surrounding and different places.
Starting over again and meeting difference faces.
I know I over things way pass they should.
But to tell you the truth if I could back in time I would.
Passed seniors have told me the years go by like that.
I want to go through undergo new things and explore.
Keep seeing new places more and more.
Trying to find out what I want and need.
Right now I don’t have any lead.
At least have one more year to go and be with the people I love.
And know that if we make our time special everything will go beyond and above.
It’s all so unrealistic.
I know I over think way more than I should.

Prom

Prom, something a girl never will forget.
The shoes, jewelry and a new nail set.
Spending weeks to months finding the perfect dress.
Planning out every detail so nothing will be a mess.
Hoping everything will go perfect and become fate.
Although, the most important thing is having the perfect date.
Tall, blonde, cute and gorgeous eyes.
Even though I have known him for awhile I still get butterflies.
Hanging out with my best friend on Friday night.
Sitting and waiting on Newport at the light.
Walking around hanging out like we normally do.
Nothing really new.
She got a text and wanted to go to sunset cliffs for fun.
She got really excited and yelled at me to run.
We drive and park by a random house and I start to walk on the lawn.
I look over and see my boyfriend Sean!
He told me look over the cliff and see what was down there.
I couldn’t do nothing but stare.
I look over and see PROM? In the sand.
He dug that with only a shovel in his hand.
After that I knew prom wouldn’t be a mess.
Oh and of course I said yes!
After this I believe in fate.
Believe me no one could have been a more perfect prom date.

My Friends

My friends, where do I even begin?
The ones that have been there through thick and thin.
My friends the people I can tell anything to.
Remembering everything we have been through.
The late night phone calls and long talks.
Taking a break and going on never ending walks.
All the kind things they do.
I know they are true.
Embarrassing moments, inside Jokes and trust we all share.
Knowing it’s not a lie and you truly care.
Your shoulder is always there for my tears
You'll be my best friend for many years.
Nothing can break our bond.
Well be friends from here and beyond.
What’s mine is yours and what’s yours is mine.
We could switch closets in no time.
Meeting as strangers and becoming best friends.
Even if we get in fights we always make amends.
I’ve had people in the past who weren’t there for me.
Making me second guess that trust was the key.
I know that will never be
The relationship between you and me.

Competitive All-Star Cheer

Competitive All-Star Cheer.
A sport that creates a lot of fear.
Jumps, stunts, tumbling and dance.
A sport that makes you take a risk and a chance.
Having pride and confidence in your team.
A sport that pushes you to an extreme.
Competing against 40 other teams that want the same thing you do.
A sport that makes you want to be first and not number two.
Practicing 2 hours and spending 3 days a week in the gym.
A sport that literally makes you feel like you can’t feel your limb.
Being backstage, ready to go on and you can’t wait.
A sport where they train you to fall seven times, and stand up eight.
Your only choice at practice is to work hard or go home.
A sport where you have to be focused and not let your mind roam.
Going to competitions and feeling the nervousness.
A sport that all what you want to do is impress.
So many things going on at one time.
A sport that isn’t for pompoms and yelling a rhyme.
Hearing everyone, feeling the lights, and waiting for the music to start.
Hoping you don’t let the nervousness forget your part.
Praying you walk out with first place.
Taking in the moment, feeling embrace.

Music

Music comes from a variety of places.
Created by different races.
Hip-hop, Rapp, Jazz, Country, Reggae, Hardcore.
So many meanings and so many more.
We hear it all day everyday.
Trying to find out what this song was trying to convey.
Whether it’s a tune or a beat.
It influences you and makes you happy or sad.
Sometimes reflecting on old memories that make you mad.
When the rhythm hits you.
You get a whole new different point of view.
There is no stress and you feel sane.
When it hits you, you feel no pain.
It makes you leave your stressful thoughts behind.
Helps you what you’re trying to find.
There are faster and slower beats.
Some you might hear on the radio, TV or even the streets.
Music means different things to many.
There’s more than one genre, there’s plenty.
Music let’s us be independent and have our own point of view.
On our world and society on things we never knew.
